$600 Electricity Credit

Bright Connect residential customers eligible for $600
Electricity Credit

The WA State Government recently announced a $600 one-off payment for all residential customers to reduce electricity bills. The payment forms part of the Government’s WA Recovery Plan and is expected to be applied from November 1st 2020.

Although the announcement only mentioned Synergy and Horizon customers, Bright Connect has received confirmation from the Government that households who are billed for their electricity usage by other providers (such as Bright Connect) are also eligible for the credit. This is in addition to the current benefit of discounted electricity Bright Connect customers receive.

The Government are currently working on an application process for households not billed by Synergy or Horizon Power to access the credit. Once we have more detail on this process, we will be in touch with all our residential customers to them know how they can apply for the credit. It is likely Bright Connect customers will receive the $600 as a cash payment rather than a credit on their bill. Customers registered for the Energy Concession Extension Scheme (ECES) on or before 4 October 2020, will receive the credit automatically. Further information about the $600 can be found here.
